When Your Buddy Drops You a Note to Come Out and Play With A Hasselblad 907X 507

While testing the Leica SL3, I met up with Kyle for a quick photo walk and chat. We are in our mid to late fifties, yet we still get excited about certain toys. Kyle brought a surprise for me to try and it gave me a chance to snap a few photos around downtown Vancouver with a Hasselblad 907X 50C.

The Hasselblad takes design and concept cues from the famous Hasselblad 500 series and I was instantly thrown back to a review I did of the Hasselblad 503CX film camera I did a few years ago. The 907X, however, is a 50-megapixel camera with a removable digital back which feels just like the film back of the 500 series cameras.

The rear LCD has a beautifully laid-out interface. The camera does not have a viewfinder and you use the LCD only to compose your photos. Luckily the LCD tilts to a 90-degree angle and when used without the grip it feels like shooting a 500 series camera. Good fun.

This is not intended as a full review and I merely wanted to quickly share the experience and a few images captured with the 907X and Hasselblad XCD 45mm f/3.5 lens.
