Sylvia Hotel

January 9, 2025

Yesterday, late afternoon, I went for a quick walk along Beach Drive and the path along English Bay Beach. I am always amazed that photos are waiting to be captured, and I can seem to find different angles, or the light presents new opportunities every time.

Yesterday, the skies cleared, and the day's last rays lighted the few clouds left. So why not pick that as the photo of the day?

Today, I chose a photo of the Sylvia Hotel, the first frame I captured on my walk. The Sylvia Hotel is only a block from where we live, and we stayed there for a few nights last month when our apartment building caught fire.

Luckily, the fire was contained quickly and limited to the main foyer and electrical room. However, we were out of our home for eight days and uncertain when we could return. We were lucky. I write this today as our hearts go out to the people affected by the Palisades wildfires in L.A. I can only imagine what they are going through these days.
