The Start of a New 365-Day Photography Project
This will be my first attempt at a 365-day photography project. Honestly, the idea and motivation to do this comes from a decision to scale back my social media efforts. Instagram has been fun over the years, and I have established many meaningful relationships, especially with fellow photographers.
However, there has been little or no growth @5050travelog for the past nine months, and I hear the same concern from many other photographers. Instagram has turned to reels, which I’m afraid I have little interest in, as they can be very time-consuming to create if done properly.
Every second post on Instagram is now a reel, and perhaps I do not have the gravitas or have never understood how to excel at social media.
Threads have been okay, but truth be told, I’ve never really felt comfortable on any social media platform, and with the introduction of ads in January, content on this platform will be further dissolved.
A nagging thought also keeps popping up. Why not support this blog instead of META and Zuckerberg? It’s time to make a change.
My 365-Project Henceforth
In my 365-Day project, I will post as many photos from the actual day as possible, but this will not always be the case for practical reasons. However, I will always try to post new content and share background information, EXIF data, and how the photo came to life.
Because this is my site, and I can do whatever I please :) I will start by breaking all the rules by posting a photo from last year’s polar bear plunge on this first day of the year.
Starting the year I was feeling a bit under the weather, and despite hearing the music blaring in the distance from this year’s polar bear plunge, I decided to stay under a blanket and hide from the world.
I have many ideas for 2025 and already feel better as I type this on January 2nd. Stay tuned for more 365-day content coming up in the next 364 days, camera/lens reviews, and travel posts.
I hope friends, family, and photography contacts will find their way to this project, as I value the online input and conversations.
Happy New Year, and thanks for all your support in 2024.
