Bellevue Beach in Copenhagen
We Finally Pay a Visit to Bellevue
Although I have lived in Denmark for a huge chunk of my life I never made it to Bellevue. I am a member of a Danish Facebook photography group and I often see Danish photographers migrate to Bellevue to make images of the iconic lifeguard towers.
The lifeguard towers are described as cartoon-like with the blue-and-white striped design and along with the geometric kiosks lining the beach they are designed by Danish furniture designer Arne Jacobsen.
We Are Back in Denmark
We are back in Denmark for a seven-week stint, mainly to prep for and to attend our daughter Emma and Simon’s wedding. But first things first. Get over jetlag. On day one we hopped in the car and drove through the beautiful neighborhoods along Standvejen and ended up at Bellevue to get some fresh air. We relaxed in the sand, had ice cream, and took in the scenery.
We had not planned a visit to Bellevue but when checking various routes it was an easy choice as I also wanted to see the interesting lifeguard towers for myself.
The design of the lifeguard towers is so simple and yet elegant with the four pillars creating the foundations and the blue and white stripes making them instantly recognizable. This theme is carried on the posts supporting the volleyball nets.
If you find yourself in Copenhagen I warmly recommend a visit to Bellevue Beach. Although we didn’t go for a swim the beach looks amazing. This is also a great place to hang out, play beach volleyball, or grab and snack, drink, or meal at the kiosk right by the beach.
