Livingspace Interiors on West 1st Ave, Vancouver

Black and White Street Photography

I often walk or bike to meet Di after work. This usually means a trip crossing the Burrard Bridge here in Vancouver.

The sun was out casting long shadows in the early February late afternoon and I decided to shoot in black and white.

The Livingspace Interiors building on West 1st inspired the title of this short photo essay portraying the space we live in. Be it the chiseled angles on the entrance to “Livingspace” or the iron and concrete at Burrard Bridge on the off-ramp from the Granville Bridge. These indeed are our surroundings, our living space, in Black and White.

When I shoot black and white I change the film simulation in my X-Pro3 so that I can view the black and white image in the EVF (electronic viewfinder). I still shoot RAW as it gives me the option to change my mind in post-processing and change it back to a color image if I so desire.

I have used the Acros film simulation for the photos in today’s post.
