I met my buddy Chris at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody today. It was a crisp January morning, and for the first time this year, I had scraped a thin layer of ice off my car before heading out of Vancouver. So far, it has been a mild winter, and we have had plenty of sunny days.

Chris took me along the shoreline trail in “his backyard,” and the goal for the day, other than a brisk walk and talk, was to try out his Nikkor Z 180-600mm lens for wildlife photography, a photography genre I haven’t practiced for a long time.

As we walked along the trail, hundreds of Canada geese flew by, and we took in the serenity of the day. We saw sandpipers and a blue heron, and I got a nice shot of a merganser, which I will share later on. The “photo of the day”, however, is of Chris at the pier of Rocky Point Park in Port Moody.

Thanks, Chris, for the great conversations and sharing gear and photography experiences. It means the world and allows me to share my findings on this site. Before we parted for the day, Chris said; oh, I have another lens for you to try. More about this later :)
