10 Spring Photos From Vancouver With the Fujifilm GFX 50R
It’s Time to Get Out There - It’s Spring
I do go out and take photos all year long but collectively the volume of work and number of personal photography projects increase significantly in the spring, summer, and fall months.
With winter behind us and the first few signs of spring arriving I hopped on my bike for an afternoon ride last week. I brought along my GFX 50R and the GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR lens. The first and last images in this post were captured where we live near English Bay and the rest are from the bike ride.
My bike ride took me across the Burrard Street Bridge and the view towards “my part of town” and the Northshore Mountains was just breathtaking on this crips and clear day.
I made a quick stop at Broadway Camera where they kindly let me try out the Voigtländer Nokton 23mm f/1.2 for Fujifilm X Mount which gave me a chance to update my first impressions of this lens here:

I also got a chance to take a quick look at the Voigtländer Nokton 35mm f/1.2 VM III, a lens that I have been considering.
After a quick coffee break at Pure Bread on East 5th Ave., I continued towards East Van but stopped at the Pacific Central Stations. The yellow signs and cabs in contrast to the blue skies were too good of a photo opportunity to miss.
The new St. Pauls hospital construction site is coming along nicely and is huge in scope and size. I quite frequently bike along the harbor front as there is so much to feast your eye on.
Just as pulled over a bright red Canadian Pacific train engine came by as seen below with an endless number of shipping containers as a backdrop.
The area around the Sunrise Market and the St. James Anglican Church along Gore Ave. is often a good spot for street photography with the sun spilling in from the southwest in the afternoon.
I probably photographed the Canada Place Sails a hundred times without being overly happy with the results. The angle of the spring sun, a few small clouds, and the black and white rendering seen below, however, made me quite pleased with the scene.
Just like I started, I will wrap up this post with another sunset photo from English Bay. The sunbeams in the distance were the draw here and I was able to crop and yet get away with a decent size file from the GFX 50R.
The photos in this post are made using the following photography gear and editing tools.
