An Evening Walk in Lecco, Italy
Lecco as a Base For Three Nights
Snippets From Our France and Italy Trip
After five days in Taormina, Sicily, we flew from Catania to Milan where we met McKensie at the airport. McKensie and Dan live in Lecco and we had invited ourselves for three nights and lucked out as they replied with a resounding yes, come and stay with us :)
McKensie was the bridesmaid at our daughter, Emma’s, wedding last summer and despite an obvious age difference, we hit it off famously.
McKensie rented an electric Renault Zoe for us for the three days we were in the area. It was so kind of her to take care of everything, and it made for a super relaxing welcome. Let’s face it: Europe is way ahead when it comes to implementing electric cars.
The drive from Milan Malpensa Airport is a little over an hour and we quickly settled into McKensie and Dan’s beautiful apartment.
Denmark played England in the Euro 2024 and we figured out ways to view it and they even had a projector, meaning we had the game on the entire wall. Fabulous. We ordered pizza and had a cozy evening.
After dinner and the game, we went for an evening walk which took us through the cozy streets and up into to hillside and an old cemetery overlooking Lecco. Rain was in the forecast for the few days we visited Lecco and it made for a very quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
The photos in this post are merely from this evening walk but stay tuned for a couple of upcoming posts from a day trip to Milan and Bergamo.
Thanks again to McKensie for hosting us and showing us this beautiful part of the world. Too bad we missed Dan but hopefully, we will see you both before too long in Canada.
