Wrapping Up Three Weeks in Hong Kong

We are wrapping up our Hong Kong entries with a few random photos and thoughts. First of all, a huge thank you to Leighton and Sharon, our friends for more than twenty years. Thanks for making us feel welcome and for encouraging us to visit so we could witness firsthand the place you have called home, off and on, since the early nineties.

Start With The Duleys - End With The Duleys

It has been an incredible eye-opener and a perfect way to start our 5050 adventures. Our appetite for travel has only increased, and you have already invited us to return!

We love your suggestion to end our 5050 Travelog project in New Zealand. Starting with the Duleys in Hong Kong and ending with the Duleys in New Zealand sounds like a great plan.

Update. We did indeed end up visiting Sharon and Leighton in New Zealand, country number 50 in our travel project. We also retuned to Hong Kong in 2017. See more posts from Hong Kong

Farewell Dinner

Ruth, Sharon, and Leighton had arranged a farewell dinner for Jorg and us. We had a great dinner at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. Restaurant at The Peak with Jorg, Ruth, Jeff, Meei, Sharon, and Leighton.

Back in Canada

This blog post is written from Canada, and we already miss Hong Kong. We returned to a bit of a cold snap here and had to adjust from balmy 25-30 degrees in Hong Kong to temperatures as cold as -15 in Canada.

After a few days with Mik in Vancouver, we stayed with Bernie and Sattu at Silver Star Mountain, where the ski season is starting.

We didn't ski this time around. Staying in Vernon also gave us a chance to hang out with Dagny and Philippe, Ross and Amanda, and Calvin and Christine. It was good to see them all before finally heading out from Vernon this past Sunday afternoon.

Christmas in Canada

We have returned to Victoria and the same Airbnb we stayed with over the Thanksgiving weekend. We have a nice loft room, which reminds us of our first apartment in Denmark in 1984. The loft has slanted walls, and you can hear the rain and December wind howling outside.

The temperatures are more tolerable here in Victoria. Today, it was up to 12 degrees. People are still biking and golfing—quite a change from Okanagan winters. We will be here with our daughter Emma and boyfriend Nic for a few weeks. We are still working out the details for Christmas, so stay tuned for a few posts coming up from Victoria.

In the meantime, keep scrolling for more photos from Hong Kong.
